Vail Mountain Express vs
Renting a car.

A rental makes sense if you are staying somewhere remote or touring other resorts. For a Vail trip it often costs more than it looks once you add the counter queue, fuel, Vail parking, and the fact that you are the one driving I-70 in whatever the mountain is doing that day.

Renting a car
Counter queues at DIA, especially on peak arrival days
You drive the corridor, including chain-law conditions
Vail parking is expensive and fills early on powder days
Vail Village and Lionshead are pedestrian anyway
Vail Mountain Express
Someone who drives this road weekly does the driving
No parking to solve
Vail's town bus is free and frequent once you are here
A transfer in and out is the common pattern
We are not the cheapest and we do not try to be. For one person travelling light on a flexible schedule, a shuttle or the bus is the better buy and we would rather say so. For groups, families, tight connections, late arrivals and anyone who needs the car to actually be there, a private vehicle is a different product.
