Should I fly into Denver or Eagle for Vail?

Eagle County Airport (EGE) is 35 miles from Vail, about 45 minutes. Denver International is 100 miles and about two and a quarter hours. EGE is closer and quicker but has far fewer flights and they are usually more expensive. Denver has vastly more flight options and is often the more practical choice — the ground leg is simply longer, which is exactly what a private transfer is for.
